The Civic Engagement Center Of Licking County
Transitional Housing
The Transitional Housing Program allows homeless families to enjoy clean, stable housing while they work toward independence. Housed clients participate in intensive case management, educational, career, and financial goals during their stay. All activities are aimed at self-determination and eventual self-sufficiency. Families live in 1 or 2-bedroom efficiency apartments that are completely furnished with donated furniture and housewares.
Veterans Advocacy Services
The Veteran Advocacy Services was created to ensure veterans and their dependents have access to every service to which they are entitled. It is not intended to compete with the local VFW (Veterans of Foreign War), the American Legion or veterans service agencies, but to complete them. What we do is help veterans make connections with service agencies."
Community Activism
The Civic Engagement Center Of Licking County is dedicated to creating partnerships with different organizations to address a common goal. We encourage and support the efforts of civic, community, education, and faith-based organizations to solve local problems.

SERVICES
Peer Advocacy
What does a Peer Advocate do?
Peer Advocates provide a range of services. The primary focus of the program is to provide emotional and practical support to individuals in a time of crisis. Emotional support includes anything from a shoulder to cry on, to a listening ear, to a referral to a support group or therapist. Practical support may include providing guideance in applying for services available in the community or a voice to the underserved.
Who is a Peer Advocate?
Peer Advocates have life experiences similar to those of the client they are serving and they are trained to provide peer counseling. They serve as role models to individuals who are learning how to navigate the social services systems. Peer advocates stay abreast of trends and provide non-directive information. They provide consumer input to the community, sitting on local task forces, engaging in public speaking events, and networking with providers. In so many ways, peer advocates serve as allies when things are tough and life feels overwhelming.
Newark Think Tank on Poverty
The Newark Think Tank on Poverty (NTTP) was founded in 2014. It is made up of local community members in Newark and Licking County, Ohio who have experienced barriers in obtaining sustainable work, safe housing and accessible transportation.
We deeply care for our community and believe all should be treated fairly and have the ability to live with dignity. We are building a movement to fight for justice on critical issues that have impacted our lives.
Members of the Newark Think Tank on Poverty are committed to walking with one another on this journey. We also welcome allies from the broader community to join us in our efforts.
